Mrs. and Mr. Goodnickels are us. We're wife-and-husband photographers with the privilege of documenting some profoundly awesome moments for some profoundly awesome people. This is what we've been up to lately!

Goodnickels is a pretty-darned-spanking-new photography studio. That said, our disregard for the rules appears to have been incubating for decades.

Here are the oldest known images made by either of the Goodnickels (Mr. Goodnickels, age 9):

And here's Mr. and Mrs. Goodnickels, present day:

Special prize to anyone who can comment with the location of the vintage photos. Serious San Diego natives ought to know!

Also, anyone nerdy enough to care about what equipment Mr. Goodnickels was shooting with? Wasn't Canon or Nikon. First camera was a Kodak disc film number. The nuttiest looking negatives you've likely had the pleasure of laying eyes on.

One camera we won't be looking for on ebay...

Should you notice that we haven't blogged in a while, it would be a mistake to assume that it's because we have nothing to blog about. In fact, the exact opposite is true. Though wedding season has been winding down, we've been bombarded by family portraits for holiday photos and meetings with clients for next year. We're booking up fast for 2009 and it's hard to believe our little studio opened it's doors less than a year ago!

So.. blogs are coming. In fact, we're going to try to do one-a-day until we get caught up (which will be more than a few)! We figured we'd start with a TGIF post, though. We've had a bunch of client meetings in the last couple of weeks, and lots of people ask us what we shoot when we're not shooting weddings. The funny thing is, our personal photography is very much in line with the stuff we do professionally.

We take pictures of people.

Here are a few photos from the last couple of weeks that we took without an appointment. We think you'll find there's not a thick line drawn between our personal and professional tastes...

As I mentioned last time, these TGIF posts are completely self indulgent. We'll just post whatever we feel like posting, and I felt like posting this. It's one of my very, very, very favorite images that's come home with us this year. Mrs. Goodnickels gets all the credit for this shot, proven by the fact that I'm in the left hand side of the frame, sportin' the hat and beard!

Just got some medium format film from our holga and twin-reflex back.. hopefully I'll have some fun stuff scanned for the next TGIF post. Have a great weekend!
